11 teams to compete in Asian wrestling c’ships in Iran’s Karaj

TEHRAN, Jul. 28 (MNA) – Some 11 Asian Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling teams will attend the first edition of ‘schoolboys Asian wrestling championships’ in Iran next month.

The schoolboys Asian wrestling championships will be held in the Iranian city of Karaj, near capital Tehran, on August 3-4.

Some 11 Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling teams from Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Jordan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Syria, Singapore, Turkmenistan and Iran will compete at 10 various weights in the tournament.

Kamel Bouaziz from Tunisia will represent the United World Wrestling (UWW) in the event, while Daulet Turylkhanov, the President of the UWW Asian Council, will also attend the event.

Iran and Japan had applied for hosting the first school children wrestling championships in Asia. Meanwhile, the international body has handed over hosting the schoolgirls championship to Japan.
